Job description

IOWN Renewable Energy, Inc. is seeking a Project Development Engineer to join our team. This is an opportunity to provide technical expertise to IOWN and IOWN clients by managing all technical requirements and issues of wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects. The Project Development Engineer will report directly to the Head of Development.

About the Position

You will manage multiple priorities and support the development of several projects by leading technical proposal requirements, work with the development team on site feasibility analysis, design and layout, provide support on permitting efforts, including drawings, and coordinate with civil engineering on survey, geotechnical investigation and foundation design of wind, solar and energy storage assets.

You will proactively maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies including pricing and prevailing commercial information (delivery, major terms, etc.). You will also analyze and advise on interconnection and transmission requirements, risks and opportunities for new projects. You will support the preparation of interconnection applications and provide technical reviews of interconnection studies.

You will participate in the negotiation of technical and commercial contracts (EPC/BOP, O&M, Equipment Supply Agreements, Interconnection Agreements, Consulting Services Agreements, Offtake Agreements) and maintain and establish relationships with external engineering companies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant study.
  • 5 years’ of power engineering experience in the renewable energy industry required. 2 years in energy storage experience preferred.
  • Integration experience in CAISO is preferred; experience in other RTOs is also beneficial.
  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • Proficiency with wind, solar PV and BESS technologies.
  • Excellent computer skills working with various office equipment, computers and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. and the ability to effectively work on spreadsheets, word processing, networking, and e-mail programs.
  • Knowledge of other software such as AutoCAD, and Adobe Acrobat Tableau is preferred.
  • Experience with power system software analysis: PSS/E, PSLF PSCAD, ETAP, etc. is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability.
  • Organized, diligent, and able to track and manage multiple streams of information on an ongoing basis.
  • Ownership of workflows to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Excellent communication skills and team-building aptitude.

The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in San Diego, CA. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
