IOWN Renewable Energy Inc. is a renewable energy developer and service provider headquartered in La Jolla, CA. Our focus is strongly targeted toward expertly developing utility-scale renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar PV and Energy Storage) in all stages of the development life cycle. About the Position

As the Transmission Analyst/Manager, you will work closely with the Senior Director Transmission Interconnection to support key tasks essential for the successful interconnection and development of utility-scale renewable energy projects. You’ll play a critical role in supporting the development and execution of engineering activities, particularly transmission planning and interconnection. Strong power flow modeling skills using tools like TARA, PSSE, and PowerWorld are essential, as well as a deep understanding of electricity market policies and transmission planning rules. You will also assess transmission systems to evaluate the commercial viability of potential projects or acquisitions and estimate the costs of necessary system upgrades. The candidate’s contribution is vital in enhancing the financial and strategic dimensions of renewable energy projects to maximize IOWN's economic success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (emphasis in Power Systems is preferred).
  • M.s in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Understanding and experience using Power flow software like Power World, TARA, PSSE.
  • Experience understanding and using SIS (system impact study) and FAS (facilities study).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while providing subject matter expertise in a collaborative team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Current driver’s license and ability to travel extensively is required. Maintain legally required insurance.
  • Excellent computer skills working with various office equipment, computers and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to effectively work on spreadsheets, word processing, networking, and e-mail programs.
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • The employee will occasionally lift and or carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Employee may use computer, phone, copier and other office equipment in the course of a day.

Responsibilities

  • Perform transmission planning using power flow modeling tools such as TARA, PSSE, and PowerWorld.
  • Apply a strong understanding of electricity market policies and interconnection rules in transmission planning efforts.
  • Acquiring data from ISOs such as power flow models, maps, and necessary software setups.
  • Remodel pipeline projects for network upgrades, register as a developer, and perform regional scans to build a library of market results.
  • Attend ISO calls related to transmission and interconnection to stay updated on industry changes.
  • Support the development and execution of engineering activities related to the electrical transmission interconnection of utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Conduct transmission assessments to evaluate the commercial viability of potential projects or acquisitions and estimate the costs of necessary transmission system upgrades.
