IOWN Renewable Energy Inc. is a renewable energy developer and service provider headquartered in La Jolla, CA. Our focus is strongly targeted toward expertly developing utility-scale renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar PV and Energy Storage) in all stages of the development life cycle. About the Position

As the Senior Analyst of Commercial Modeling and M&A, you will support financial analysis for M&A opportunities, power marketing efforts, and project sales. Your key responsibilities include financial modeling, market analysis, risk assessment, and project valuation, working closely with finance, legal, and project development teams to drive business strategies.

In this role, you’ll influence major investment decisions for utility-scale renewable energy projects—spanning wind, solar, BESS, hybrid, and hydrogen technologies. You’ll contribute to greenfield development and M&A activities, impacting projects from early development to operations within a collaborative, fast-growing company.

Requirements

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in business or technical discipline or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Minimum on 1-2 years of relevant industry experience or advanced coursework.
  • Experience with financial modeling for renewable energy projects (PV, Wind, BESS).
  • Experience with M&A, including due diligence, negotiation, legal documentation, and financing.
  • Exhibit advanced proficiency in Excel software to facilitate effective data analysis and modeling tasks.
  • Experience with Python, Matlab, and/or Tableau preferred (training platforms and crash courses are available for skill enhancement.)
  • Possess a foundational understanding of finance and accounting terminology to facilitate clear communication and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate industry interest or experience in renewable energy.
  • Experience proficiently conducting market research, skilled at gathering and interpreting data from a variety of sources to inform decision-making processes.
  • Excel in research and reporting capabilities, synthesizing complex information into comprehensive reports for strategic insights and decision-making.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability.
  • Collaboration Skills: Demonstrate effective teamwork alongside company management, coworkers, and employees.
  • Utilize tact and diplomacy in interactions with company personnel, clients, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Recognize the importance of cultivating healthy relationships to accomplish team objectives.
  • Communication Proficiency: Maintain open and consistent communication with company manager, coworkers, and employees.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Current driver’s license and ability to travel extensively is required. Maintain legally required insurance.
  • Excellent computer skills working with various office equipment, computers and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to effectively work on spreadsheets, word processing, networking, and e-mail programs.
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • The employee will occasionally lift and or carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Travel up to 15%
  • Employee may use computer, phone, copier and other office equipment in the course of a day.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models for renewable energy projects (wind, solar, BESS, hybrid, hydrogen).
  • Conduct market analysis and assess risk factors for investment opportunities.
  • Perform project valuation for M&A transactions, power marketing, and project sales.
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, and project development teams to align business strategies.
  • Support decision-making on project acquisitions, divestitures, and development investments.

  • Work with other internal and external teams and colleagues in the development, construction, and asset management of projects.
  • Synthesize and present findings of analyses to key stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Participate in regular team meetings over phone, video conference or in person.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
